Resili: A Brand Born from Resilience

Resili is an athletic wear brand that embodies the spirit of resilience, strength, and the unwavering power of the human story. "We’re all fighting battles no one knows about," and for me, it couldn't be more true. Though I rarely spoke about my personal struggles, I carried on each day.

Resili was born out of my personal journey through life—a journey no more difficult than yours yet uniquely mine. In the face of life’s challenges, my experiences have shaped me into a person of strength and resilience. One of the most defining chapters in this narrative unfolded when my second child was born with neuroblastoma in his spine. This was the most difficult time in my life, yet it also gave me the most strength. Cancer was only one part of the journey; the effects are something we deal with every day. I had to navigate the healthcare world, fight for my son's opportunities for medical care, and learn everything I could about spinal cord injuries. After numerous surgeries and years of daily physical therapy, my son has become one of the strongest, smartest, and most determined people I have ever met, at just 14 years old.

At 44, I decided to make a complete change in my life. I was navigating an unhealthy marriage and essentially raising two teenage boys on my own. I was handling a lot and dealing with a lot internally.  I knew that the only way to improve my life was to make a change. I decided to create a better life for not only myself, but my two teenage boys. 

I went against almost everyone's advice, but I started listening to myself. I moved my teenage boys to a new city, sold my home for an apartment, started a new job, and then founded Resili—all while working full time and being a full-time single mom.

Running, walking, and working out became my therapy, helping me cope with everything happening in my life. However, I was frustrated by the available athletic wear. The biggest issue was that I needed pockets for my keys and phone, but I wanted the clothing to be comfortable, sustainable, and healthy to wear. That's when Resili was born.

When creating Resili, it was crucial for me to use sustainable and healthy fabric. Most athletic wear is made from polyester or nylon, which are essentially plastic and petroleum. My fabrics are made from bamboo, a material you might not have worn before because it isn't easily available. I want to change that.  Bamboo fabric is soft, healthy to wear, antibacterial, has UV protection, is moisture-wicking, and hypoallergenic.

Resili embodies who I am and serves as a source of inspiration for everyone striving to overcome their struggles, representing strength and resilience. When I started this business, I began reaching out to women and groups to learn about the struggles they face each day. I was truly taken aback by the magnitude of the responses. I realized that even the most put-together person is dealing with something internally. Many of us are struggling more than others perceive. My ultimate goal is for Resili to be more than an athletic wear brand—it should also be a platform where we can be proud of our resilience and inspire others facing similar challenges.
